Staples for a Stocked Pantry

A well stocked pantry will save you lots of money and you will have everything you need to make a good meal. You will be able to grab things from the pantry and whip up a fast meal and you will already have many items that you will most likely use in other meals you want to make. There are many things you should have in a stocked pantry. First you should have certain staples, then certain packaged or canned foods and last a good assortment of spices or seasonings. You can find each individual item when it is on sale on stock up on it then for later use. Just remember to always check expiration dates. Here is my list of staples, packaged/canned foods and spices.


  • Baker’s chocolate
  • Baking powder
  • Baking soda
  • Barbeque sauce
  • Bread
  • Bread crumbs
  • Butter
  • Cheese
  • Chocolate chips
  • Cocoa powder
  • Cornmeal
  • Cornstarch
  • Crackers
  • Eggs
  • Flour
  • Honey
  • Ketchup
  • Lemon juice
  • Mayonnaise or salad dressing
  • Milk
  • Non-stick cooking spray
  • Nuts (almonds, pecans, walnuts)
  • Oatmeal/rolled oats
  • Oil (olive, vegetable)
  • Pancake baking mix
  • Pancake syrup
  • Peanut butter
  • Potatoes
  • Shortening
  • Sugar
  • Tortillas
  • Vinegar

Packaged/Canned Foods:

  • Beans (canned, dry)
